Interests and Focus
In the PROTON II study we are building a national database with data on the complete blood transfusion chain; from donor to transfusion recipient. This allows analysis of donor and production risk factors for recipients, benchmarking blood use amongst different hospitals for various treatments and transfusion triggers, as well as an international comparison of blood use and analysis of trends in blood use.
