Fleur studied Medicine at the University of Utrecht from 2004-2011, and has worked two years as AGNIO Internal Medicine after this to develop 'all-round' doctor skills.
As of January 2013 she started as a PhD student, supervised by prof. dr. Marc Bonten. The first 9 months she worked as a research physician for CAPiTA, studying community acquired pneumonia. From September onwards she has a new project, on health-care associated infections caused by Staphylococcus Aureus, and their association with colonization status of the patient. Currently, she is in the middle of starting a prospective trial in different ICUs across Europe. This project is part of the larger COMBACTE project.
