Kirsten van de Groep (1988) graduated as Medical Doctor at Utrecht University in 2013. During her study she developed an interest in Infectious Diseases and Intensive Care Medicine. She also participated in research at the department of Medical Microbiology. Afterwards, Kirsten started working at an Intensive Care for a year, followed by a half year in Internal Medicine, both at hospital the 'Gelderse Vallei'. In 2015 Kirsten started as a PhD candidate at the Julius Center Utrecht, Infectious disease and Epidemiology department under the supervision of prof. dr. Marc Bonten and dr. Olaf Cremer. Her project will focus on diagnostic research within the framework of the MARS project (Molecular Diagnosis and Risk Stratification of Sepsis). At the same time she will follow a Postgraduate Master Program in Epidemiology.
