PhD students
Utrecht University has organised its research programs within 6 Graduate Schools; one is the the Graduate School of Life Sciences. A Graduate School consists of a number of MSc and PhD programs dealing with related subjects, thus providing researchers with a forum for collaboration and feedback. They create a meeting place for graduate students, PhD students and researchers.
PhD students within the Julius Center usually follow one of the PhD programs within the Graduate School of Life Sciences.
The Julius Center, in collaboration with Utrecht University, organises the PhD program Epidemiology, which is part of de Graduate School of Life Sciences. The PhD program Epidemiology is aimed at optimal preparation of PhD fellows to become independent researchers, research consultants, or continue their career at an academic level in (non)governmental institutions or the pharmaceutical industry.
Starting out as a PhD student
Generally, PhD students are recruited by public advertisement. In the recruitment procedure candidates compete for a PhD position.
