Summer school courses successful
Two Utrecht summer school courses contribute to the global and Utrecht ‘Global Goals’
During the first two weeks of July the UMC Utrecht was the location for the Utrecht Summer school courses ‘Challenges of global health’ and ‘Reproductive and maternal health: a global perspective’. More than 50 participants from all around the globe, among whom also refugee-doctors, enrolled for the courses. Both summer schools, focussed on global health, a by the United Nations determined priority for future international collaboration; the ‘global goals’. Not only participants had a wide variety of nationalities, also presenters from all around the world came to talk about their work and address priorities for global health. The focus of the course ‘Challenges of global health’ was on non-communicable diseases in low- and middle income settings; the course ‘Reproductive and maternal health; a global perspective’ addressed global disparities in reproductive and maternal health. Both courses were very fruitful and provided insight into the challenges that arise when working on health in an international setting.
