Welcome Dr. Beth Payne
We are delighted to welcome Beth Payne, PhD from the University of British Columbia as a KNAW Visiting Professor for 2018, nominated by Prof. Diederick Grobbee, MD PhD.
Beth Payne PhD doctoral research was in the area of perinatal epidemiology and included development, validation and pilot testing of the miniPIERS (Pre-eclampsia Integrated Estimate of RiSk) clinical risk prediction model and conversion of this model into a mobile health decision aid for use by community health workers in low-resourced settings.
Her postdoctoral work has focused on implementation and evaluation of the PIERS mobile health app through the CLIP (Community Level Interventions for Pre-eclampsia) cluster randomized controlled trial in Nigeria, Mozambique, Pakistan and India funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
During her fellowship Beth Payne will be actively involved with the Utrecht Global Health Fellows program and is excited to expand her work in prediction modeling in collaboration with experts in the Epidemiology Department.
