Queen Máxima and Princess Beatrix attend Prince Claus Chairs’ 15th anniversary
On 12 April 2018, the Prince Claus Chair on Development and Equity celebrated its 15th anniversary in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Máxima and Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix.
The celebratory event was held at Noordeinde Palace and included a speech by Queen Máxima and inspiring keynotes by the Minister for Higher Education for South Africa, Naledi Pandor, and the European Commissioner for Research, Science, and Innovation, Carlos Moedas.
The last five Prince Claus Chairholders and their post-doctoral research fellows shared their reflections on the Chair. This included the current chair, the South African Professor Fatima Suleman, who works on affordability and equitable access to (bio)therapeutics for public health at Utrecht University. Previous Chairholders include Prof. Irene Agyepong, Research and Development Division, Ghana Health Service. Prof. Agyepong has been contributing for the past 10 years to maternal and child health research at the Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care.
