Welcome to the postgraduate General Practice training in Utrecht
During the postgraduate GP training offered by the Julius Center, students are trained to become competent and motivated general practitioners who are ready to meet the needs of modern society. To accomplish this, we have a strong team of dedicated trainers, teachers and administrative staff. Once their training has been completed, the new General Practitioners will have a thorough knowledge of diagnostics and therapeutic techniques, be able to communicate well with their patients and colleagues, and will be in a position to continue with their education and development. During the education program, the trainees have the opportunity to develop in various directions.
The postgraduate GP training program has a dual character: theoretical education and in-house training alternate with working in general practice under the supervision of an experienced trainer in general practice.
The postgraduate GP training program in Utrecht is one of those offered by the Dutch Training Institute for General Practitioners ('Huisartsopleiding Nederland'). This program is offered at eight general practice vocational training institutes. Each institute is linked to a Department of General Practice in a University Medical Center. In Utrecht the General Practice program is embedded in the UMC Utrecht Julius Center, one of the departments of the University Medical Center in Utrecht.
