After graduating from the University in the English Language and Literature, Maria van Dijk-Okla worked for several years as a University teacher of medical English at UMC in Poland. In the Netherlands she joined a company as a translator / interpreter and she had numerous commercial contacts abroad. Since 2002 she worked as management assistant to a biochemistry professor at Utrecht University. Among others she organised international meetings in the Netherlands and abroad and she participated in some of them as an organiser. She also took minutes of these meetings.
Since 2006 she worked as PA to prof.dr. Theo Verheij at the Department of General Practice at Julius Center at UMC Utrecht. She organised several international conferences for the CHAMP project (Changing behaviour of Health care professionals And the general public towards a More Prudent use of anti-microbial agents). In April 2007 she organised the kick-off conference in Utrecht, in March 2009 an international conference in Milan, Italy and in February 2010 in Warsaw, Poland. She participated in these conferences as an organiser.
Since 2012 she has been working as secretary to prof.dr. Jet Smit and the Department PHM (Public Health, Health Technology Assessment and Medical Humanities). She has been working as secretary also to Prof. dr. Frank Huisman, Dr. Ardine de Wit and Dr. H. Koffijberg.
