Nienke Paternotte (1989) obtained her medical degree at the Utrecht University in april 2014. After this, she worked as a medical doctor in internal medicine and cardiology at the Flevoziekenhuis in Almere.
In March 2017 she started working as a PhD candidate at the Pulmonology department in the Northwest clinics in Alkmaar under supervision of dr. Boersma. Since October 2017 she also works part-time as a PhD candidate at the Infectious Disease and Epidemiology department of the Julius Center, under supervision of Prof. dr. Marc Bonten.
She is currently coordinating the CAPTAIN study, a Dutch prospective multicenter study on improving diagnostic yield in pneumococcal pneumonia using a pneumococcal specific quantitative PCR.
