Lufang Zhang (1988) received his Bachelor degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) in 2010. Subsequently, he graduated from the Selective Utrecht Medical Master (SUMMA) at the University of Utrecht and obtained his Medical Doctor degree in 2014. After this, he worked as medical doctor at the division internal medicine in the Diakonessenhuis.
In March 2017 he began working as research physician at the Infectious disease and Epidemiology department of the Julius Center Utrecht under supervision of prof. dr. Marc Bonten, dr. Henri van Werkhoven. Additionally, he is also participating in the postgraduate Master course Epidemiology.
Currently, he is engaged in the CAP-NEXT study, a multicenter prospective study to determine the additional value of the low-dose CT and the point of care multiplex PCR (atypical pathogens and viruses) on broad-spectrum antibiotic usage.
